RISE microscopy is a correlative microscopy technique, developed in 2015 by TESCAN and WITEC, that combines focal Raman microscopy with SEM microscopy (RISE) in an integrated microscope system.

This unique combination offers clear advantages to the microscope user with regard to complete sample characterization: electron microscopy is an excellent technique for visualizing surface structures of samples in the nanometer range; Combined with EDX allows for an elemental composition and RAMAN will not provide the chemical and molecular components of a sample.

You can also generate 2D and 3D images and depth profiles to visualize the distribution of molecular compounds in a sample. The RISE microscope allows for the first time the acquisition of SEM and Raman images of the same sample area and the correlation of ultrastructural and chemical information with one microscope system.
